On a cafepress email discussion list I’m on, some members have mentioned that their various Governor Schwarzenegger t-shirts seem to be selling rather well in Japan for some reason. One list member remarked, “He’s VERY big in Japan. And since ‘Schwarzenegger’ is hard to say in Japanese, they call him ‘Shuwa-chan’. Note that ‘-chan’ is a diminutive suffix, like adding a ‘-y’ to a name in English.” Perhaps that’s the equivalent of us calling him, “Schwartzy” or something. Heh – color me amused. 🙂
