Yesterday, I stumbled upon a peculiar site. A desert wasp dragging a paralyzed tarantula across the yard, back to its burrow. (Just like in the movie Wild Wild West. I think I’ll skip the graphic description of what happens next, since I don’t want to think about it enough to have to type it up.) It was very strange – the wasp was about 1.5 inches long – black body with rust-colored wings, and the taratula was small, but still the body was 2 inches long, not including the legs. I guess that pretty much sums it up, technically, but it will stick in my mind for a long time to come.
